SMISO Vestfold needed educational materials to support their preventive work against incest, sexual abuse, and violence – aimed at children in 2nd and 5th grade. The assignment required a sensitive and targeted approach: to communicate serious topics in a way that feels safe, understandable, and accessible to children of different ages.
Dazewood was responsible for the graphic and pedagogical design of two brochures now distributed during school visits throughout Vestfold. The brochures aim to help children understand their own boundaries – and to know that there is always someone they can talk to.
Solution
We developed a visual language that combines warm illustrations, soft shapes, and clear typography – with a strong pedagogical focus. The content was structured and presented to invite safe reading and natural conversation, both in the classroom and at home. The design is tailored to the children’s developmental level and helps lower the threshold for talking about difficult topics.
Result
The brochures have been well received by both teachers and students, and are now a permanent part of SMISO Vestfold’s educational program. The pedagogical design makes it easier for adults to address sensitive subjects with children, while giving the children tools to understand, express, and set their own boundaries. A valuable contribution to greater safety and awareness – communicated on the children’s terms.
